Well, it's kind of still up in the air. I have a few ideas I am trying to decide between, but nothing is set, well, cast in stone yet.

Snakes I'm currently considering for the next sculpt:

*California Kingsnake / Cornsnake (they really are similar enough biologically it'll probably be the same sculpt) - probably a yearling sized snake, not a baby, not adult size. There are SO many beautiful colorations of both snakes that I think it would be fun to paint them all. (Plus, my own little Beetlejuice keeps looking at me like he's jealous that Ivy's gotten sculpted but not him, lol).

*Baby Hatching Ball Python- what can I say, these guys hold a special spot for me in my heart. I'd like to do a life-size hatchling, just pipping his shell and exploring. I've seen so many photos of these babies, and they are so adorable! (I would look into having a tongue sticking out of his mouth, too, sniffing the air)

*King Cobra or Spectacled Cobra- both are very recognizable. I would need to decide if I want it open mouthed or closed. Open obviously poses more problems molding.

*Full-size Ball Python- I would love to make a gigantic coiled one in outdoor ceramic, but I'm still looking into paints and sealants that are fade and weatherproof.

*Rattlesnake- I used to have a stuffed pair of these from the days my dad did taxidermy, but sadly no longer have them. This is another one I would have to decide open mouthed or not- one needs more attention to molding.

I've also been considering quite a few lizards in addition to the snake, but as I said, nothing is really decided yet. I'd love to hear opinions of what people would like next.

Lately I've been considering a few more sculpts, actually, some not reptilian...

My contact to go see some live ball python eggs fell through two weekends ago, so I may see if I can give it another shot and hopefully see them before they hatch! (Or during, how awesome would that be?!)

But what does everyone think? Should the next one be fuzzy or scaley?

I now have four additional little scaled muses in my house, so the next sculpt will probably be a hatching (in the egg) or hatchling (out of the egg) cornsnake. I'm also hoping to do limited breeding with these beauties once they're bigger.

My new little babies are:

Jack- a very brilliant Sunkist orange and white "creamsicle" corn. This sweet guy is eating everything I put in front of him and looking for more! He'll be a gorgeous boy to start my breeding line with once he's older.

Colby- Ok, bad name, but I can't think of anything better. This little girl is a "Snow" corn, right now she is bubble gum pink and white, but when she gets bigger she will be white and yellow patterned. I named her this because her babies will be "Colby Jack" babies. Get it? :) Another neat thing, she has the "normal" cornsnake patterning down her back and sides except for the middle third of her body- this area mysteriously switches to the Aztec zig-zag patterning, then returns to the "normal" phase. Neat huh? I'm very excited to see what sort of babies her and Jack would produce.

Scarlet- this poor little girl has had a rough start to life. She is one of the babies who hatch and just don't seem to quite know what is going on yet. She's not figured out how to eat pinkies on her own, so we're having to help her with that for now. She is an Okeetee patterned snake, and is tan and orange with vivid red patterning down her back. She always has the sweetest expression to her face.

Holly- Holly is either an Amelanistic cornsnake, or a "Candy Cane". We're not sure. She's nearly white, with holly berry red patterns down her back, ringed in a pure white. She is also having a tough time figuring out this whole pinky business, but we think she'll catch on soon.

So look for a baby corn snake sculpt to most likely be the next one we offer!
