Each of our Feather Quill Dip-Style Pens are handmade. Every feather is individually cleaned and prepared, its shape and colors considered, then it is carefully painted, wrapped, and any embellishments are added. The result? A truly beautiful, fully-functional piece of art that writes beautifully.

We ship all of our pens in flat boxes (or mailing tubes if necessary due to length of feathers) to protect them during transit- we do not send them in envelopes, which can allow the delicate feathers to be damaged. Shipping costs not included in prices below. Feel free to email us with your zip code and country for an estimate.
UPDATE REGARDING PEN HANDLES 12/13/2009:
We have decided we will no longer be making pens using the "smooth" colored handle wraps. Any future pens made featuring this kind of wrap will have a leather handle covering substituted at no extra charge. We have decided to make this change for many reasons- mainly because we feel the leather wrap looks nicer, lasts longer, and is a higher quality product at no additional costs to our customers.
UPDATE REGARDING PEN HANDLES 04/12/2010:
We are happy to announce that we can now offer beautiful "Wedding White" pigskin leather for our feather pen handles. Don't let the "pigskin" part of the name fool you- this stuff is soft, supple, and a brilliant clean white! (Whiter than our picture even!) Great for wedding pens of any type. We will also happily make your wedding pen with a ball-point pen insert instead of a metal writing nib at no additional cost! This helps remove the potential for ink accidents at your event!
Below: Some of our favorite pens so far. Ones marked OOAK (one-of-a-kind) are unique and will not be made again. Ones marked LMT (limited) will be very limited in their series- probably 3 or less total- as hard-to-find natural variations in the feathers will strictly limit their production. Other feathers in a series will vary slightly, as with all hand-made things. All are signed or initialed (usually on the back of the feather) by the artist, Andrea Brink, and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

*We believe that most of the feathers we buy to use were naturally moulted, but since we cannot guarantee that fact on most of our feathers, will not say they are hurt-free.

Vintage Inkwell Pen Stands!
We are very pleased to be able to offer vintage inkwell stands for the discerning collector, or to add a touch of class to your event. We will be offering stands for "lease" for your special event, as well as for sale.
Vintage Brass Inkwell #1:
This is a beautiful, Art-Nuveau style piece featuring plenty of scrollwork and embellishments. Color is an antique brass; features a small crystal or glass ink well with brass lid. Measures approximately 7" x 7" x 4" tall. Weighs several pounds.
Lease for $10 for your event*, or purchase this inkwell for $50.
*Leasing on this inkwell requires a $50 deposit to be paid before event. After your event, Inkwell must be returned via insured, delivery confirmation Priority mail within one week. Return shipping after event is responsibility of customer. Upon arrival of undamaged inkwell to us, $40 of your deposit will be returned to you. If inkwell is lost, damaged, stolen, ect, the entire deposit is kept as "payment," and the inkwell is now yours to keep.
Vintage Brass Inkwell #2:
This piece is so identical to #1 that the slight differences in details don't show up on our photos, you really have to see it in person. #2 is a slightly softer brass color (not quite as yellow), and has more delicate details "carved" across it's surface, such as lilly of the valley flowers, and a butterfly. It is exactly the same as #1 in all other regards- glass or crystal ink well with matching lid. This inkwell is priced slightly higher because of the higher quality of work.

"GreenWing" LMT
A gorgeous pen featuring some of our rare Aracari Toucan feathers! I see GW and picture a tropical rainforest, rich with plant growth and flying things of all sorts, from iridescent Quetzal birds to flying emerald beetles.
GW's main feather is a deep emerald green ringneck pheasant tail feather with gorgeous black barring. Three green, black, and white Aracari toucan wing feathers are ready to take flight near the base of the handle, and approximately a dozen black pheasant feathers decorate the very bottom of the feather. These smaller feathers are each topped with a gorgeous, deep green iridescence that catches the light like a prism. The handle is wrapped in black suede-finish leather, overwrapped with a metallic green wire. A vintage, fine-point #3600 Polycopie writing tip by Baignol & Farjon completes this pen. This is one of our longest pens, and measures approximately 22.5" long overall. $70.
"The Woodsman" LMT
A handsome, masculine pen, inspired by nature. The Woodsman's main quill is a gorgeous, rich brown ringneck pheasant tail feather, with a light reddish tinge up the outer edges. An assortment of ringneck pheasant body feathers in shades of olive, gray, and tan with deep metallic green highlights adorn the base of the feather. The handle of the pen is wrapped in chocolate brown suede leather, and overwrapped with a dark green wire. Beaded accents include two Malachite beads, a Peruvian Green Opal, two chip Emerald stones, and is finished with a vintage bronze colored leaf charm. A vintage, fine-tipped, bronze-colored Plume Ballon nib from Germany completes this pen. Pen measures approximately 18” long overall. $50.
"Emerald Goddess" LMT
A gorgeous pen full of rare feathers! EG’s main quill is a gorgeous blue and black Hyacinth macaw wing feather, followed by an array of feathers in varied blue and green jewel tones. Topmost is a regal lime and bronze peacock eye sword tail-feather, and directly below that is a macaw wing feather in brilliant blue and kelly green. A very rare black, white, and green Aracari toucan wing feather sits below that, followed by a small sapphire-purple mallard duck wing feather. The base of the handle is topped by three small turquoise-colored ring neck pheasant feathers. The handle of the pen is wrapped in soft, tawny colored leather, and overwrapped with a deep blue wire wrap. A vintage Perry Balance Spring Pen nib finishes off this pen, making it perfect for delicate writing. Pen measures approximately 13” long overall. $70. "The Hyacinth Dragons"Limited
A lovely set of flying dragons! Each dragon is carefully hand-painted on a beautiful and rare dark blue and black Hyacinth macaw wing feather, and wrapped with a matching leather handle and wire overwrap. These feathers are very hard to come across (we're told pet Hyacinth macaws run twenty thousand each!), so this set may be the only one we make! $50 each pen. Green Dragon, Bronze Dragon, and Gold Dragon have sold, remaining two still available. (Updated 04/12/2010: We will only be able to make two more pens of this style. Please contact us to purchase the Blue or Brown dragon shown below, or order one of the other colors.) These pens were made using 100% naturally moulted feathers. No birds were hurt to make them.

A brilliant metallic green dragon, with a matching hand dyed green leather wrap. (This handle has a slightly metallic sheen inherant in the dyes used.) This pen has been sold, another may be made upon request.
"Lady of the Mists"
A woman, shrouded in a long gray cloak, appears out of the mists..
She looks across the water, and sees her beloved homeland, Avalon..
LotM consists of a beautiful, full, silver-blue ostrich plume, and three graduated Swarovsky crystals adorn the base of the feather. Handle features a soft gray, genuine leather wrap, thin silver wire overwrap, and an assortment of pearltone, aurora-borealis finish glass and silver beads dangle from the base of the handle. A heavily silver-plated, fine-tipped Barion #43 Mammoth-bowl pen nib finishes the handle, and ensures you'll enjoy this pen for years to come. "Oriental Dragon"
Above: A silver and black Oriental dragon coils up this feather to the fierce red star at the tip.

"Autumn Pheasant"
Above: The rich brown, copper, gold, and tawny colors of this gorgeous pheasant tail pen remind us of Fall- pumpkings ripening on the vine, corn stalks drying in the fields, leaves crunching underfoot, and great harvest moons.
Below: A close-up of the copper, gold, and black paint that fall down the spine of the feather. Glittery copper dots grace the bottom of each line pair of line segments. The feather itself has gorgeous patterns and tickings.
Below: Three different shots (taken at different angles and lighting conditions) of our handmade simulated opal set at the base of the handle. Beautiful fires of red, orange, yellow, and an occasional green adorn this grey-green colored "opal." This pen truly must be seen in person to fully appreciate its beauty, color, and sparkle! "Rose Pheasant" LMT
Above: What really caught my eye on this feather was the unusual, but beautiful stripe of rose-purple up the left side; the black spots fade into burgandy (you can barely see it in the picture above). I kept the same beautiful gold and copper colors that "Autumn Pheasant" sports, but added a great metallic pink to match the feathering when I painted it.

"Court Jester"
Above: One of our more unique designs, the swept curve of this feather is adorned with four black triangles, and edged with four red diamonds. (I outlined the feather in the second photo to better show it's shape.)
Below: A lead-free pewter jester charm hangs from the base of the handle. A C-6 style writing nib ensures you have a sharp, fine tip for delicate script. "The White Hippogryph"
Above: The five assorted hippogryph feathers that make up The White Hippogryph (a feathery, snowy white ostrich plume, one white turkey wing quill, and three small white goose body feathers).
Below: All, excluding the ostrich plume, are carefully hand painted to feature delicate black ticks, spots, and black bands, with a delicate shimmery silver background color around the main stripes.
Below: One of TCD's handmade simulated opals ("Oubliette" style- black with teeny gold flashes) adorns the base of the feathers. Smooth black wrapped handle features a C-5 style calligraphy writing nib- perfect for delicate writing, yet still offers the traditional "calligraphy" style script. Below: SoG features two black and white barred wild turkey wing feathers, and two gray Pilgrim goose feathers. Soft, smoky-colored rabbit fur wraps around the entire base of the handle, and a beautiful silvery-black hematite stone falls gently from its silver-tone wire cradle. Smooth black wrap and a vintage, unused silver-tone Roeder Kugelzack writing nib finishes off this pen. Pen measures approximately 13" long overall. $40. Above: Worn through the ages as an amulet against bleeding, Hematite is also known as the "blood stone." Native American folklore states that war paint made from hematite would make one invincible during battle. Hematite is also used to balance out emotions and energies between the body, mind and spirit, helps dissolve negativity, and aids in memory enhancement.
